The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Confirmation strengthens the grace received at Baptism and seals us with the gift of the Holy Spirit. It marks a deepening of faith and a readiness to live as committed followers of Christ. During the celebration, the bishop anoints the candidate with holy oil and says, “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit,” calling each person to live out their faith courageously.

Preparation and Parish Support

In Acton Parish, young people typically receive Confirmation during their final year of primary school, following a period of preparation involving prayer, reflection, and participation in parish life. Parents, teachers, and the parish community work together to guide candidates as they come to understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit — wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
